Detroit Electric has decided to build its first electric sports cars overseas in Holland, reports The Detroit News.

The automaker said in a statement that its European facility will begin production during the fourth quarter. Previous plans had called for Detroit Electric to begin production at a factory in Wayne County, Mich., this month.

The company said it is trying to secure Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Certification in order to start production in the U.S.
