General Motors on Jan. 7 said it sold a record 3.16 million vehicles in China in 2013.

The 2013 sales represent an 11.4% increase from sales in 2012, The Detroit News reported Tuesday.

In December, the automaker and its joint ventures sold a record 271,002 vehicles in China, up 11.8% year-over-year.

“GM maintained good growth momentum in our company’s largest market, despite a modest slowdown in demand for commercial vehicles,” Matt Tsien, president of GM China, said in a statement. “We benefited from a broad portfolio of models and brands that are meeting the diverse needs of vehicle buyers across China.”

According to the newspaper, the company’s Buick sales rose 15.7% in 2013 in China. In total, 809,918 vehicles were sold.

In addition, the Chevrolet also set a record for sales in China for the year of 652,077 vehicles, up 8.5% from 2012. Cadillac sales rose 66.6% to 50,005 vehicles in 2013.
