With the release date of the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe fast approaching, enthusiast around the nation can now plan their next rear drive purchase accordingly. The Korean brand’s first ever rear drive sports car has received enough enhancements that it will not only be the best equipped offering, but the fastest as well. New found power, efficiency and a refreshed face all make for a new-found car that might just be worth the slight bump in price.

When March 2012 comes around, there will be eight Genesis Coupe trim levels offered. The base, a 2.0T with the six speed manual transmission, starts at $24,250: a $2,000 jump compared to the current 2012 model year. For that money, buyers get a massive boost in power as the DOHC 2.0 liter turbocharged inline four cylinder gets direct injection for a solid 274 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque using premium fuel. The previous 2.0T put down a humble 210 horsepower and 223 lb-ft of torque using standard fuel injection so the increase in price is rightfully justified. For $1,250 more, the 2.0T can be fitted with the Genesis Sedan’s in-house built eight speed automatic, replacing the older six speed. The most expensive four cylinder Coupe will be the automatic Premium trim which starts at $28,750.

In order to get six cylinder power to spin the rear wheels into oblivion, a buyer will have to shell out $28,750 for the 3.8 R-Spec six speed. This bare-bones clean slate trim earns direct injection as well for the 3.8 liter DOHC V6. Power for the 2013 stands at 348 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel. For long distance cruising, $32,000 will get the eight speed automatic 3.8 Grand Touring trim while the most expensive Genesis of all, the 3.8 Track, starts at $34,250. Added cost options such as BlueLink, navigation via a new seven inch touchscreen and HD Radio will be offered on Grand Touring, Tracks and Premium trims.
