The rumored Porsche “Ferrari-fighter” may be arriving soon. Hot of its win at Le Mans this weekend, Porsche has released a series of photos that show its new 919 racer sitting alongside a road-legal Porsche. The first is a classic Porsche racer, the second a 918 hybrid supercar, but the third is where things get interesting. The third image is of a car that looks a lot like a 911 in silhouette, but a bit larger. There have been rumors for a while that Porsche would be debuting a car wearing the 960 name that would do battle with the mid-engine Ferraris and lower lever Lamborghini models.

It would slot between the 911 Turbo S, and the high end 918 with a price in the $200k to $250k range. It would be interesting to see if Porsche uses some of its new race-proven hybrid technology to make this car a reality. It is parked next to the 919 after all, so maybe it will see the racer’s unique V4 engine rather than the traditional Porsche flat-six.

As always, keep it locked here and we will reveal all the details on this new car as soon as we get them.
