Mercedes-Benz USA doesn’t have the largest diesel market, but there are still a decent number of BlueTecs running around American soil. A certain number of these vehicles are being recalled due to the diesel fuel filter leaking. The area around the heating component for the filter has the potential to fail, causing fuel to leak onto the road and or the vehicle itself. If present near an ignition system, a fire could erupt.

As of now, there are a total of 6,872 Mercedes-Benz vehicles potentially being affected. The E, GL, ML and R Class equipped with the BlueTecs could be at risk, all of which are 2011 model years. The 2012 S Class is also affected. Notification is expected to begin in November and Mercedes-Benz will inspect and replace the fuel filter free of charge.
