Just as Nissan gets ready for its 7,000 delivery of the all-electric LEAF, they have announced an expansion of the North American market. Opened now are orders for the 2012 model in Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York. Deliveries for those cars will happen early December and with those will be newly developed quick-chargers.

Nissan isn’t stopping at just those states. Ordering will begin on October, 3 for more of the general public. Nissan plans to have the LEAF available in Delaware, Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island by the end of the year. Of course, this is just inside North America as global availability of the EV is continuing to grow. “Consumers have spoken, and it’s clear that they are looking for a car that produces zero emissions and uses no gas,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Nissan North America. “We are seeing tremendous consumer interest in the Nissan LEAF in these new markets, particularly in the New York metropolitan area.”
