At the 2011 GreenFleet Awards held in the United Kingdom, the Nissan LEAF won another award. Taking the prestigious Electric Vehicle of The Year trophy, the LEAF earned the win for it being judged as the best performing and most suitable EV in its class. Tied into Europe’s ever growing charging infrastructure, the Nissan is becoming more popular with the public and fleets every day. It is an easy car to pick up and integrate into a company’s fleet, especially with its still-available £5,000 government incentive.

“With five-door practicality, a generous boot, a high level of spec, and most importantly, a 110 mile range, the Nissan LEAF is the resounding choice this year. Add to that the take-up in fleets, from all over the UK, and it certainly means the Nissan LEAF is now the market leader, and will continue to make in-roads into fleets looking to embrace EV technology,” said Colin Boyton, GreenFleet Marketing Manager. Barry Beeston, Nissan Motor GB’s Fleet Sales Director, mentioned that Nissan Europe currently has 32 certified LEAF dealers in the Great Britain area. Not only does that heighten the car’s availability, it also lessens any worry about running a zero emissions car. “A growing number of fleets are beginning to switch on to how Nissan LEAF can provide drivers with a good combination of everyday practicality and zero emissions when in use,” said Beeston. In 2013, LEAFs will become even more popular as production will begin at the Sunderland plant.
