Ford loves to talk about how its new aluminum body helps to cut weight, improve fuel economy and increase performance, but in the Heavy Duty market, Ram just proved it has the bigger muscles. For 2016 the new Ram Heavy Duty trucks hold the titles of best-in-class power, towing and payload. Hard to argue with that.

The key to this dominance is under the hood. The 6.7-liter Cummins inline-6 turbodiesel engine has been upgraded to produce an insane 900 pound-feet of torque. According to Ram, that is the most torque ever available in a mass-produced vehicle.

All that power means that the Ram 3500 can tow 31,210 pounds. If you opt for the 2500 you can still drag around 17,980 pounds. Both are best-in-class numbers. The Ram 3500 also holds the title for most payload capacity with a rating 7,930 pounds when equipped with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8.

So, that is the highest tow rating, the highest payload and the highest amount of torque.

Looks like if you need a truck that can really pull or haul anything, it will be wearing a Ram badge.
