The Nissan LEAF holds a lot of industry “firsts” and it doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Adding to the first mass marketed zero emissions vehicle’s list of achievements is the first ever fully electric vehicle to become available to purchase across the entire U.S. market. A total of 21 new states will be added to the list and Nissan will contact the consumers who put their name in the hat to order one. It has only been a little more than one year since the LEAF first made it into the hands of the public and it didn’t take long for Nissan to hit a true milestone.

“There is no longer any doubt that a 100-percent electric, zero-emissions vehicle fulfills the needs and desires of drivers from around the globe. Nationwide availability of the Nissan LEAF means that now, anyone in the country can opt for a transportation solution that does not harm the environment, provides a pathway to energy independence, and doesn’t use a single drop of gas,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president for Sales and Marketing at Nissan North America. In the time since its 2011 debut, the LEAF has managed to drive more than 30 million miles with more than 22,000 models globally. Now that reservations to own are fully available to all 50 United States, that number will surly continue to go up. Once the orders get worked through, the delivers are expected to begin early in the summer.
