The Patent Board, a orginazation that rates companies for innovations, research and practices via “Scorecards” recently named General Motors number one innovation leader among 182 other companies. The board determined GM by measuring patents, impact on the industry, and science innovations. This is the second “first place” finish for GM after their January win in the automotive/transportation sector.

“We focus on inventions that make our vehicles more sustainable,” said Alan Taub, GM’s vice president of R&D. “Our engineers are developing advanced technologies that increase fuel efficiency and ensure safety while maintaining the excitement of personal mobility.” The reason for the ranking is due to the fact that GM recieved more clean-energy patents last year than any other orginization. This news came from the Clean-Energy Growth Index of U.S. patents.
