The Toyota Technical Center, part of Toyota Motor’s North American operations, is planning to invest more than $28 million to expand its powertrain operations at two facilities in the Ann Arbor area in Michigan.

The expansion is expected to focus in design, evaluation and calibration for new engine and transmission projects.

According to automaker, the investment will allow the technical center to develop engines and automatic transmissions for its North American vehicles.
