The NHTSA is at it again, and this time Cadillac is in the cross hairs. The Cadillac XTS has been marked for a recall regarding head restraint regulations.
XTS cars built between October 12, 2011 and August 30, 2012 may not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 202. The Cadillac’s rear head restraints may not “lock in the upright position after being forward.” The problem is that if they fall from that position, because they did not lock, they will not meet the minimum height required for the standard. The decreased height may result in neck injuries during a collision.
An estimated 12,626 XTS models are affected, and Cadillac will notifying owners soon. As always, the fix will be performed free-of-charge at your dealer.
