Due to a misrepresentation, certain models of Jaguar’s hyper sports sedan are being recalled. A select grouping of XFs were built with incorrectly labeled certification tag that thus violates the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 567: Certification. The car’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) listed on the label is wrong which could led to an overfill of weekend trip gear and or golf clubs. If this happens, the Jaguar will not know what to do with the added weight which could spell disaster for any driver.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are just 51 XFs being affected so far. The recall covers 2012 model year Jaguars built between September 7 and November 24, 2011. Notification to owners will begin on or around January 23, 2012 and the remedy will be rather simple. Certified Jaguar Land Rover dealers will replace the label with a proper one at no extra cost to drivers.
