Lexus is planning on finally updating it’s IS sedan, and we will finally see the new car at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. There has been speculation on what will happen to the IS since Lexus debuted the RC F. Taking over the slot of compact sporty RWD car, the RC was a perfect replacement for the IS aside from its coupe door count of two. I for one expected an RC sedan that would slot in alongside the sultry two-door, but Lexus has proved me wrong.

We don’t have any info about the new car aside from a single teaser photo, but expect it to carry the latest version of the company’s corporate spindle grille, and a fully updated interior that makes use of larger screens, more connected technology and a healthy slathering of leather and metal. Wood trim will likely be an option of course.

Power should come from the same engines currently available from the base 2.0-liter turbo up to the 3.5-Liter V6 with a Hybrid model slotting in the middle. No word on any future F plans for the IS, but that 5.0-liter V8 from the RC F and GS F is just sitting there waiting, so fingers crossed and you may get your wish.

The Beijing show doesn’t start until mid-June, so expect to see and hear more about this updated sedan before then. As always, keep it locked here on AutoTalk.com and we will be sire to bring you all the news as soon as we have it.
