Swirling alongside all the drama that has consumed Saab Automobile in the past few weeks is a piece of positivity. One of Singapore’s leading automotive magazines, Wheels Asia, recently released its annual Car Buyer’s Guide, subsequently naming its “Car of The Year”. Beating the likes of the BMW 535i and Audi A6 in the executive car class was the 2011 Saab 9-5.

“this new 9-5 is a properly resolved Saab, and it has enough in its DNA to win back the loyal fans of the brand who have, while waiting for this, resorted to driving the more mainstream Teutonic suspects in this large executive saloon segment,” said the editors of Wheels Asia. With its 2.8 liter twin turbocharged 300 horsepower v6, six speed automatic, all wheel drive and sub seven second 0-60 mph time, the new 9-5 is more powerful, larger and more comfortable than before. And according to Wheels Asia, it is still Saab charming.

Jonas Hernqvist, Regional Manager for Saab’s Asian markets said, “The markets in Asia are demanding and Singapore especially so, since it so restrictive when it comes to car imports. Therefore it is particularly gratifying and encouraging that the Saab 9-5 is honored in this way.”
