In the sports car segment, the fifth generation Chevrolet Camaro holds on to the top selling spot for the United States. To go along with that claim-t0-fame, the Camaro is now the most popular vehicle on the social media site Facebook. With more than 1.8 million fans, the Camaro’s official page has more “friends” than any other manufacture’s official vehicle page.

“The community that has grown around the Camaro is truly remarkable,” said Carolin Probst-Iyer, digital consumer engagement manager for Chevrolet. “With nearly 2 million fans, people are constantly posting new photos and content, which in turn inspires comments and engagement from other fans.”

In its first year of production, Chevrolet’s pony car out sold it’s arch rival, the Ford Mustang despite simply being a coupe. Other models have helped the Camaro surpass the Mustang in sales by nearly 10,000 units since January. Probst-Iyer continued on to say, “As a result, the community provides an invaluable way for us to communicate directly with the most passionate Camaro enthusiasts and to understand what they like most about their favorite sports car.”
