Subaru plans to pull the curtain off of the new XV concept which should be the basis for the upcoming Impreza Outback Sport. More than likely built upon the recently revealed next generation Impreza, the XV Concept shares the same principles as the previous Outback Sports: raised suspension along with different body and interior trim.

This concept should be another way for Subaru to showcase their upcoming new-gen boxer engine: a light-weight 2.0 liter that is rumored to yield 30 plus mpg. Judging from the spy photos, the body of the XV has been seriously tweaked: bulging fenders, oversized wheels and a short but muscular rear should give this Subaru a “stand-out” appearance.

The Shanghai Auto Show will begin April 19 and run through April 28. Stay tuned to Autotalk for more info on the upcoming show.
