Located between Great Britain and Ireland is an island that mother nature has created specifically for gearheads. The Isle of Man is home to the famous Touring Trophy (TT) motorcycle races that have taking place since 1907. The nearly 38 mile long course is not only for super-bikes however as Subaru has announced a multi-year sponsorship of the TT races. In celebration, Subaru will be performing the first officially timed lap for a production car in 21 years.

A U.S. spec 2011 Subaru WRX STI driven my rally driver Mark Higgins will run the full closed course lap in an attempt to set the record for a four cylinder production car. “I know it will be hard work, but it’s a great challenge and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Higgins. Slight modifications have been made to the STI that will be making the run. A roll cage, race seats and harness, racing brake pads and Pirelli racing tires as well as a higher flowing exhaust will be found on the STI.
